Announcement of the opening of the first call for applications for support within the project „jUŚt transition – potential of the University of Silesia as a basis for equitable transformation of the region”. for doctoral students of the International Environmental Doctoral School
associated with the Centre for Polar Studies

Pursuant to Article 3(3) of the RECRUITMENT AND PARTICIPATION RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE PROJECT: „jUŚt transition – Potential of the University of Silesia as a basis for equitable transformation of the region”, co-financed from the funds of Priority FESL.10 European Funds for Transformation, Measure FESL.10 .25 Development of higher education oriented to the needs of the green economy, European Funds for Silesia 2021-2027 Programme. The project coordinator announces a call for applications for doctoral students of the International Environmental Doctoral School at the Centre for Polar Studies in tasks:

6.3 Funding of individual research activities – costs of trips abroad (Europe) related to the implementation of Individual Research Plans at the International Environmental Doctoral School at the Centre for Polar Studies (CPS)

Maximum amount of activity funding: PLN 7000

Description: Individual research activities involving short trips abroad (within Europe) for dissertation purposes, including queries, consultations, use of laboratories, field research.

Call for proposals until 5 July 2024.

The activity reported in the competition should take place during the period: 15.07.2024 – 30.06.2025

6.4 Funding for individual research activities – costs for travel abroad (Outside Europe) related to the implementation of Individual Research Plans at the International Environmental Doctoral School at the Centre for Polar Studies (IEDS)

Maximum amount of activity funding: PLN 12 000

Description: Individual research activities involving short trips abroad (outside Europe) for the purpose of preparing a PhD thesis, including queries, consultations, use of laboratories, field research.

Call for proposals until 5 July 2024.

The activity reported in the competition should take place during the period: 15.07.2024 – 30.06.2025

6.6 Funding for the costs of research carried out by doctoral students
of the International Environmental Doctoral School at the Centre for Polar Studies (IEDS)

Maximum amount of activity funding: PLN 5000

Description: The activity includes funding for ongoing laboratory analyses (purchase of research material and consumables for ongoing laboratory analyses, gaining access to a laboratory or laboratory equipment, commissioning laboratory analyses)

Call for proposals until 5 July 2024.

The activity reported in the competition should take place during the period: 15.07.2024 – 30.06.2025

6.8 Funding for participation in conferences abroad for doctoral students
at the International Environmental Doctoral School at the Centre for Polar Studies (IEDS)

Maximum amount of activity funding: PLN 5000

Description: Funding for participation of PhD student(s) in conferences abroad.

Call for proposals until 5 July 2024.

The activity reported in the competition should take place during the period: 15.07.2024 – 30.06.2025

NOTE: One may become a beneficiary of only one of the activities related to mobility of doctoral students (Tasks 6.3, 6.4, 6.8).

Recruitment is carried out on the basis of substantive criteria specified in the Application Form for a form of support for doctoral students. On the basis of the data provided by the candidate, a ranking list will be created in descending order of the sum of points, according to the following criteria:

(a) Connection of the doctoral student’s research with the subject of the project, i.e. research to support the transformation process, in particular with the directions of the green and digital economy (no connection – 0 points slight connection – 1 point, significant connection – 2 points) – points are awarded by the project coordinator/coordinator on the basis of the supervisor’s opinion and his/her own assessment of the Individual Research Plan. A score of 0 points is tantamount to rejection of the application on the grounds of non-fulfilment of the project conditions,
b) Degree of interest in international mobility: (no foreign mobility carried out during the training at the doctoral school – 3 points; no Project entitled. „more than 2 short term mobility or not more than 1 long term mobility (over 30 days) during education in doctoral school – 2 points, more than 2 short term mobility or more than 1 long term mobility – 1 point).
